Youth Support Worker

About the Role
We’re looking for a Youth Support Worker to join the team at NYCC and help deliver a positive, engaging youth programme alongside the Lead Youth Worker. You will help plan and run fun, inclusive sessions for young people aged 8 to 18, building their confidence and creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, is reliable, and can bring energy and creativity to sessions in areas such as sports, music, art, or gaming.
Key Responsibilities
- Availability: Primarily Wednesday and Friday evenings, with occasional Saturday evening sessions when special events run.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and friendly atmosphere for young people.
- Build positive relationships with members, listen to their feedback, and encourage participation.
- Help plan activities and projects that promote wellbeing, confidence, and creativity.
- Maintain awareness of safeguarding policies and GDPR requirements.
- Assist with setup, tidying, and general organisation before and after sessions.
- Work collaboratively with volunteers and community partners to enhance the programme.
- Contribute ideas for future activities and help develop measurable outcomes for the club.
About You
Essential
- Experience in working with teenagers and pre-teens.
- Good communication and empathy skills.
- Reliable, flexible, and self-motivated.
- Understanding of safeguarding and youth engagement principles.
Desirable
- Level 2 Youth Work qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience in sports, creative arts, cooking, or wellbeing activities.
- Confidence in using digital tools and social media.
